1.Kleftiko, Milos
Once a hideout for pirates, Kleftiko is a dramatic cluster of white volcanic rocks, sea caves, and arches rising from crystal-clear water on the southwest coast of Milos. There’s no road, no path, no beach bar, just towering formations sculpted by thousands of years of wind and waves. You swim through natural tunnels, snorkel over turquoise depths, and feel like you’ve discovered something ancient. Kleftiko is often called the “Meteora of the Sea,” and for good reason. It’s one of the most extraordinary swimming spots in the entire Mediterranean.
2.Katergo, Folegandros
Folegandros is already one of the quieter Cycladic islands, and Katergo is its most secluded beach. Sitting at the base of steep cliffs on the southern coast, this small stretch of sand and pebbles is only accessible by boat from Karavostasi port. The water is emerald green, the setting feels wild and untouched, and the silence is something you carry with you long after you leave.
3.Kolona, Kythnos
Kolona is one of the most photographed beaches in Greece, a narrow strip of golden sand connecting the main island of Kythnos to a small islet, creating two perfectly sheltered bays on either side. While technically reachable by a rough path, arriving by boat is the way to experience it properly. You anchor in calm, shallow water and swim to shore. It feels like your own private double beach.
4.Kastelli, Kato Koufonisi
The uninhabited island of Kato Koufonisi is a short boat ride from its more popular neighbour, Ano Koufonisi. Among its rocky coves lies Kastelli, a narrow beach hidden behind golden limestone arches and rock formations. The truly adventurous can swim under a section of rock to discover a secret beach on the other side. No facilities, no people, just raw Aegean beauty at its finest.
5.Psili Ammos, Patmos
On the sacred island of Patmos, Psili Ammos sits on the far southwest coast, reachable only by boat from Skala or by a hiking trail. Fine golden sand, tamarisk trees providing natural shade, and water so clear it glows in shades of blue and green. It’s the kind of beach that rewards the effort of getting there — a quiet paradise on an island already known for its peace.
